The Internet is a public communication area that many believe is protected by the First Amendment. Others believe that its contents should be moderated and the public protected from inappropriate content. What is your view on this controversial issue, particularly in light of the extensive use of the Internet in schools?
The Internet is a great resource that enables technology and information at the viewers’ fingertip. The Internet enables possibilities for teachers to integrate technology into their core curriculum, but the Internet is a public website in which all viewers connect. This can be a problem for educators. The use of public websites without restrictions can lead to cyberstalking or cyberbulling. Predators are waiting for the opportunity to take advantage of the innocent.
I believe that educators should have restrictions on public networks. Students will be safer from those that lurk and wait to attack. Children should be protected from certain types of information that is on the Interne. They should have access to information that is appropriate for their age group and all others should be monitored. There are many social media tools that can be used privately that perform the same functions as those that are not.
This week has been a long week for me. I enjoy creating websites, but for some unknown reason Weebly would not allow me to use the older templates. Personally, the older versions were better than some of the new templates. There was more of a variety of different styles and not just a selected few. Still deciding if I want to keep the image on the home page. I have changed it more than I should have. I think it is too blue. So don’t be alert if my image changes.
I like using Weebly to create websites because it is easy to use of course with the exception of the restriction of templates. I have used other websites creators and this one is very easy. Creating the banner was a good experience. I have used Cool Text before and it is an easy application to use to create a banner. It took less than 2 minutes. Creating buttons is an easy task, but there is not much of a variety of buttons to choose from.
Finding resources was not hard. I found so many great resources that are not listed on the resource page. Some that I plan to try and get the experience. Overall, this was a fun experience.
